Shinedown bring their 'US Summer Festival Tour' to Bethlehem in Pennsylvania

August 8, 2024

Since 2021 Shinedown has been a mainstay on the touring circuit and along the way has continued to make history with numerous singles from their 'Planet Zero' LP catapulting the band to historic new career highs.

Shinedown's return to Musikfest was both the first show to sell out on the line up this year and came as no surprise as the band hasn't skipped Eastern Pennsylvania on any of their recent tours, likely due to their large following in the area. In the days going into the event the band achieved yet another career milestone as “A Symptom of Being Human,” became the first song by a band or solo artist to chart in the Top 10 on three major Mediabase charts: Active Rock, Alternative, and AC. Across their storied career Shinedown has achieved a record setting 23 chart-topping songs and holds Mediabase records for most Active Rock No. #1s, Top 5s and Top 10s.

The band's return to the road this summer sees them touring at the end of the album cycle for 'Planet Zero' and diving back into some old fan favorites for their festival season setlists. Shinedown had a delayed arrival to the stage in Bethlehem due to the heavy rain and thunderstorms leading up to the start of their set. However, the skies cleared slightly and the band was able to give the Pennsylvania crowd a full performance. As the stage came to life and old timey welcome video kicked the night off slowly before the band dove head first into one of the heaviest setlists they've put together in recent years as they started things fof with a pyro filled performance of "Devil."

Shinedown ignited the stage with an 16-song set that had the massive crowd on their feet, singing at the top of their lungs. It's no wonder they've solidified their status as one of the most influential rock bands of the century. Their artistry and deep connection with fans elevate their music and transform their live performances into something truly unforgettable. At this point in their career, Shinedown has reached a "Springsteen" level, where even some of their most popular tracks can't make the setlist due to their ever-expanding catalog of hits. Yet, the band does their best to satisfy all corners of their fanbase, blending beloved favorites with stellar deep cuts.

With "Planet Zero" now part of their legacy, Shinedown continues to carve out their place in the history of not just rock, but contemporary music as a whole. With every new single, they push further ahead, placing themselves in a league of their own. Shinedown has more than earned the title of "best rock band of all time," and they show no signs of slowing down as they enter one of they wrap up one of the strongest album cycles of their career. Though the band hasn't confirmed anything yet history shows that the band will likely end up back in the studio soon enough to start the next chapter of their music legacy.

Stone Temple Pilots’ return to Pennsylvania for RockFest was more than just another stop on tour as the band isn't on the road promoting a new album or anything particular at the moment making this one off show truly special. Their festival headline slot was a true celebration of a band that has not only endured but continues to thrive. After more than twenty years of music, their headline performance in Grantville showed that Stone Temple Pilots are still writing their best chapters. When Jeff Gutt first stepped in as lead singer, fans were curious about how he would fill the shoes of such an iconic role of those who came before him. A few years and countless shows later, there’s no longer any question. Gutt has evolved into the frontman the band always seemed to be waiting for - powerful, confident, and endlessly engaging. His vocals are as sharp and reliable as ever, but his presence has grown into something magnetic. Whether pacing the stage with fiery energy or locking eyes with fans in the crowd, Gutt now owns every moment in the spotlight. It has reached a point where it is harder to imagine Stone Temple Pilots without Gutt versus any version prior to his arrival with the band. As always, Robert and Dean DeLeo provided the backbone of STP’s unmistakable sound. Their tight musicianship and playful energy were the perfect counterbalance to Gutt’s intensity as he sprinted around the stage (and even jump off into the crowd at one point). The brothers looked like they were having just as much fun as the crowd, trading riffs, smiles, and moments of pure musical joy throughout the night. It was a reminder that their chemistry is the true heartbeat of this band, and it’s never sounded stronger. The night was a journey through the full scope of Stone Temple Pilots’ career. Fans were treated to a perfect balance of old favorites, deeper cuts, and fresh material. “Big Bang Baby” was a standout moment of the set early on, soaring with Gutt’s vocals. Hearing the classics re-energized while newer songs slid in seamlessly made the set feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. If this RockFest performance was any indication, Stone Temple Pilots are in the middle of an exciting new era. For long-time listeners and new fans alike, that means one thing: it’s time to get ready for more shows, more songs, and more unforgettable nights like this one. What is next for Stone Temple Pilots may be up in the air but one thing is for certain, they remain one of the tightest live bands in the genre.
