I Prevail and Pierce the Veil team up for sold out 'True Power Tour'

November 25, 2022

I Prevail's 'True Power Tour' with special guests Pierce The Veil, Fit for a King and Stand Atlantic is one of the hottest tours of 2022 to date as it has been selling out nationwide including a recent stop at the Fillmore in Philadelphia.

This powerhouse combination of bands don't hit the road very often - in fact one of the most recent in memory was the House Party Tour from 2013 that saw A Day to Remember, All Time Low, Pierce The Veil and The Wonder Years come together with similar nationwide success. I Prevail have been hot on the touring scene since their historic debut and during that time have established themselves as true staple of the scene with incredible original material. Their massive fanbase, combined with the now Tik Tok infused frenzy that has engulfed Pierce the Veil since their return led this tour to be sold out within minutes of going on sale for most markets. Add in rising stars Fit For a King and newcomers Stand Atlantic and it is easy to see why tickets to the "True Power Tour" were among some of the hardest to score this year (and re-sale tickets are through the roof as well for every market).

Stand Atlantic and Fit For a King kicked the show off with two back to back sets that had the crowd on their feet and a few surfers come over the barricade. Their sets compliment each other well but Fit For a King came to open the mosh pit as their set featured some brutal breakdowns that gave them a bit of an edge with the hardcore fans in the crowd over the pop punk infused set that Stand Atlantic started the show with. Following a brief set change the crowd began to sway with anticipation as Pierce The Veil's massive stage set up appeared and the lights dimmed to a low purple/blue wash.

After taking a few years (and a pandemic) off from touring Pierce The Veil has returned to the scene with two of the best singles of the year ("Pass the Nirvana" and "Emergency Contact") and their fans have been starved to see the band perform live again. The "True Power Tour" marked their return to the touring cycle after they kicked things off with two iconic performances at the When We Were Young Festival in October as well. Early on in the set it was clear that the band was ready to deliver on their absence from touring as the band put on one of the best performances Philadelphias has gotten from them in years. Across 9 songs Pierce the Veil gave fans just enough to keep them wanting more for their yet to be announced headline tour that can be assumed is on the horizon for the band next year. The crowd vibed heavy early on with the new single "Pass The Nirvana" but reached a new level late in the set as the band closed with a trifecta of scene classics that included "Hold on to May," "A March Into Water" and "King for a Day."

I Prevail picked up where Pierce the Veil left on when they hit the stage and doubled down on the insane amount of production as the band was flanked by lasers, a sprawling video wall and blinding strobes that transformed their heavy set into a true work of art. Across 16 songs I Prevail reminded the crowd why they are the headliner of this tour with all the content they have released in the past few years. The mid set appearance of "Hurricane" set the already hyped crowd into a fever pitch and the mosh pits doubled down in size from then on as the band commanded the sold out Philadelphia crowd. As their set began to wind down fans remained in the pit and didn't start filing towards the exits until the end of the night. The "True Power Tour" was a once in a decade tour and as the final note played I Prevail left the stage on a historic night in Philadelphia as they continued forward to wrap this tour up.

Stone Temple Pilots’ return to Pennsylvania for RockFest was more than just another stop on tour as the band isn't on the road promoting a new album or anything particular at the moment making this one off show truly special. Their festival headline slot was a true celebration of a band that has not only endured but continues to thrive. After more than twenty years of music, their headline performance in Grantville showed that Stone Temple Pilots are still writing their best chapters. When Jeff Gutt first stepped in as lead singer, fans were curious about how he would fill the shoes of such an iconic role of those who came before him. A few years and countless shows later, there’s no longer any question. Gutt has evolved into the frontman the band always seemed to be waiting for - powerful, confident, and endlessly engaging. His vocals are as sharp and reliable as ever, but his presence has grown into something magnetic. Whether pacing the stage with fiery energy or locking eyes with fans in the crowd, Gutt now owns every moment in the spotlight. It has reached a point where it is harder to imagine Stone Temple Pilots without Gutt versus any version prior to his arrival with the band. As always, Robert and Dean DeLeo provided the backbone of STP’s unmistakable sound. Their tight musicianship and playful energy were the perfect counterbalance to Gutt’s intensity as he sprinted around the stage (and even jump off into the crowd at one point). The brothers looked like they were having just as much fun as the crowd, trading riffs, smiles, and moments of pure musical joy throughout the night. It was a reminder that their chemistry is the true heartbeat of this band, and it’s never sounded stronger. The night was a journey through the full scope of Stone Temple Pilots’ career. Fans were treated to a perfect balance of old favorites, deeper cuts, and fresh material. “Big Bang Baby” was a standout moment of the set early on, soaring with Gutt’s vocals. Hearing the classics re-energized while newer songs slid in seamlessly made the set feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. If this RockFest performance was any indication, Stone Temple Pilots are in the middle of an exciting new era. For long-time listeners and new fans alike, that means one thing: it’s time to get ready for more shows, more songs, and more unforgettable nights like this one. What is next for Stone Temple Pilots may be up in the air but one thing is for certain, they remain one of the tightest live bands in the genre.
