Shinedown brings 'Planet Zero' to Camden on a Sunday Night

September 15, 2022

Shinedown continues to make history with each performance they bring through the area as the band's return in support of Planet Zero came just days after they celebrated their record-holding 19th #1 at Active Rock Radio with current single "Daylight"

The legacy of Shinedown is no secret at this point and the band is destined for a large exhibit at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland before their saga is complete. In just 20 years the band has 10 million records, released over 20 singles that have all charted in the top 5 and continues to pull further into the lead as the Greatest of All Time Mainstreams Rock Artists as ranked by Billboard. Shinedown is currently back on the road for the second leg of their tour in support of their chart topping album "Planet Zero" and now that the album has been released they are bringing fans even closer to the fictional (yet scarily real) world they've created on this record.

Shinedown took to the stage shortly past 9PM and their massive stage production slowly began to flicker to life as was used on the first leg of the tour.  Cryptic alien symbols flashed on the screen after a lengthy video detailing the band's pre and post pandemic adventures, suddenly an AI appeared and the Freddom Mortgage Pavilion was transported all at once to "Planet Zero" itself as the band walked out on stage to the roar of the packed amphitheater crowd.

Shinedown delivered 18 songs for the massive crowd and each song had fans out of their seats singing on the top of their lungs. It truly is no secret how they became the best and most important rock band of the century - their artistry and connection with fans not only empowers their music but transforms their live performances as well. At this point in their career the band has entered "Pearl Jam" territory with some singles and amazing tracks not being able to make the set on every tour due to the ever growing catalog of commercial singles. The band does their best to accomodate all sectors of their fanbase however as numerous fan favorites and stellar deep cuts were crafted into another perfect setlist from Shinedown including a rare performance of "The Crow in the Butterfly." During the set the band did a touching tribute to the victims of 9/11 that included a moment of silence before the band performed "Better Man" with special guest Jelly Roll on the stage. Behind them a massive depiction of the Twin Towers was rendered across and American flag as the band sang along.

With the release of  "Planet Zero" behind them now Shinedown continue to etch their names into the history books of not only rock music but contemporary music as a whole. With each single the band moves further ahead of the pack of their fellow artists and have begun to put the name Shinedown amongst the realm of legends like The Beatles, Rolling Stones & more. Shinedown have proven they not only deserve the title of "best rock band of all time" but also that they aren't done yet as they have entered the most creative and innovate era of their legacy. Get ready - "Planet Zero" is coming up just around the corner.

Stone Temple Pilots’ return to Pennsylvania for RockFest was more than just another stop on tour as the band isn't on the road promoting a new album or anything particular at the moment making this one off show truly special. Their festival headline slot was a true celebration of a band that has not only endured but continues to thrive. After more than twenty years of music, their headline performance in Grantville showed that Stone Temple Pilots are still writing their best chapters. When Jeff Gutt first stepped in as lead singer, fans were curious about how he would fill the shoes of such an iconic role of those who came before him. A few years and countless shows later, there’s no longer any question. Gutt has evolved into the frontman the band always seemed to be waiting for - powerful, confident, and endlessly engaging. His vocals are as sharp and reliable as ever, but his presence has grown into something magnetic. Whether pacing the stage with fiery energy or locking eyes with fans in the crowd, Gutt now owns every moment in the spotlight. It has reached a point where it is harder to imagine Stone Temple Pilots without Gutt versus any version prior to his arrival with the band. As always, Robert and Dean DeLeo provided the backbone of STP’s unmistakable sound. Their tight musicianship and playful energy were the perfect counterbalance to Gutt’s intensity as he sprinted around the stage (and even jump off into the crowd at one point). The brothers looked like they were having just as much fun as the crowd, trading riffs, smiles, and moments of pure musical joy throughout the night. It was a reminder that their chemistry is the true heartbeat of this band, and it’s never sounded stronger. The night was a journey through the full scope of Stone Temple Pilots’ career. Fans were treated to a perfect balance of old favorites, deeper cuts, and fresh material. “Big Bang Baby” was a standout moment of the set early on, soaring with Gutt’s vocals. Hearing the classics re-energized while newer songs slid in seamlessly made the set feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. If this RockFest performance was any indication, Stone Temple Pilots are in the middle of an exciting new era. For long-time listeners and new fans alike, that means one thing: it’s time to get ready for more shows, more songs, and more unforgettable nights like this one. What is next for Stone Temple Pilots may be up in the air but one thing is for certain, they remain one of the tightest live bands in the genre.
